Tour Anywhere (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Tour Anywhere mobile application (the “App”) and the website at touranywhere.app (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.

By using the App or Website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information you authorize those providers to share (typically your name and email address).
  • Profile Preferences: You may set preferences such as preferred distance unit, maximum tour distance, maximum number of stops, preferred voice, and selected tour categories.
  • Saved Tours: If you save tours, we store the tour data (stop names, narration text, audio references, routes, and metadata) associated with your account.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: The App uses your device’s location to generate walking tours near you. Location data is sent to our servers to find points of interest and generate routes. We do not store your precise location beyond what is necessary to fulfill your tour request.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the App, including the number of tours generated per billing period, subscription status, and purchase events (for subscription management).
  • Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics and compatibility purposes.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In: If you authenticate using a third-party provider, we receive only the information you authorize (typically name and email).
  • Apple App Store: When you subscribe, Apple processes your payment. We receive transaction identifiers and product identifiers from Apple to manage your subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
  • Generate personalized walking tours based on your location and preferences
  • Manage your account, profile, and saved tours
  • Process and manage subscriptions and entitlements
  • Communicate with you about your account or changes to our services
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve user experience
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse

3. Third-Party Services

Our App and backend services rely on third-party providers to deliver functionality. These providers may process data on our behalf or as independent controllers:

  • Supabase: Authentication and database hosting (stores your account, profile, saved tours, and subscription data)
  • Google Maps Platform: Mapping, directions, and points of interest lookup (receives location queries)
  • OpenAI: AI-powered tour narration generation (receives location and point-of-interest names to generate narration scripts; does not receive your personal account information)
  • Google Gemini: AI-powered location ideation (receives location queries to suggest points of interest)
  • ElevenLabs: Text-to-speech audio generation (receives narration text to produce audio; does not receive your personal information)
  • Railway: Cloud infrastructure hosting for our backend services
  • Apple: App Store subscription processing and in-app purchases

Each third-party provider has its own privacy policy governing its use of data. We encourage you to review their respective policies.

4. Data Retention

  • Account Data: We retain your account information, profile, saved tours, and subscription records for as long as your account is active.
  • Tour Generation Data: Temporary data used during tour generation (such as location queries and AI prompts) may be cached briefly for performance and is not permanently associated with your account.
  • Purchase Events: Subscription purchase event logs are retained for audit and dispute resolution purposes.
  • After Deletion: When you delete your account, we delete your profile, saved tours, subscription records, and purchase event logs from our database. We also delete your authentication record. Some data may persist in backups for a limited period, after which it is permanently removed.

5. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the App’s Settings screen. Account deletion permanently removes:

  • Your user profile and preferences
  • All saved tours
  • Subscription records and purchase event history
  • Your authentication credentials

Account deletion is irreversible. Active subscriptions should be cancelled through Apple’s subscription management before deleting your account to avoid continued billing.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers
  • Authentication via industry-standard JWT tokens
  • Row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Secure credential storage for API keys and service accounts

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information in your profile
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for location data collection by disabling location permissions on your device

9. International Data Transfers

Our servers and third-party providers may be located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Website and updating the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
